The World Café Presentation at the Houston Public Library

Celebrating Citizenship Month

What:             Houston Public Library (HPL) celebrates Citizenship Month with the presentation of the World Café Dialog, which will focus on Immigration. Featured panelists include:

  • Benito Juarez, Mayor's Office of International Communities;
  • a Representative from the Mexican American Legal and Education Fund;
  • Anne Chandler, Director of Tahirih Justice Center (women refugees); and
  • a Representative from the Immigration Reform Coalition of Texas (IRCOT). 

The World Café is a public forum co-sponsored by HPL and the United Nations Association. The purpose of the program is to raise awareness on global issues and inform Houstonians on the local impact of these issues as well as the opportunities to get involved. The World Café encourages the public to "Think Globally. Act Locally." A complimentary coffee bar will be provided by Java Pura. The community is invited to participate and enjoy the dialog.
